List of Standard Software

The following is a list of optional software that Unixops will install
on your machine for you.  There are millions of software packages out
there.  If you don't see something you want, ask us.  Please go through
this list, and indicate which packages you would like us to install.

The following packages will be installed at no charge, as part of the
standard localization

[ ] aliases - a handy alias lookup utility
[ ] da/411 - cu directory lookup program
[ ] ditroff - device independant text formatting program, aka troff/nroff
[ ] dsee - ditroff previewer for sunview
[ ] file transfer protocols - xmodem, kermit, zmodem, etc. - used for
    uploading and downloading programs from/to your PC
[ ] idl - interactive data language [NOTE: you need to pay a licensing
    fee to obtain this software]
[ ] mkmake - used for creating make files for source code
[ ] perl - language for text manipulation
[ ] rn - allows you to read usenet news
[ ] rtar - allows you to tar on remote machines
[ ] scrub - will remove files from a scratch partition that are more than a
    defineable number of days old
[ ] shar - used for making several text files into files for posting/mailing
[ ] spacegripe - will yell at users when the partition that their home
    directory resides on gets too full
[ ] tac - cat files backwards
[ ] tout - will log you out if you are idle for a defineable time
[ ] transcript - suite of programs for generating postscript output -
    you will need this if you have a postscript printer
[ ] webster - dictionary lookup program
[ ] SOLARIS2 unbundled compilers, C, Pascal, Fortran, Answerbook, SparcWorks
    (subject to applicable license fees)

The following packages will be installed for an additional fee, due to the
fact that compiling and testing them is something of a pain.  However, if
you are a full-service unixops client, they are installed at no extra charge.

$ 50	[ ] emacs - GNU text editor
$150	[ ] ditroff preprocessors - preprocessors that allow you to draw
$ 50	[ ] gcc/bison - GNU c compiler and parser generator - ansi compatible
$ 25	[ ] g++ libraries - additional libraries needed for g++
$ 25	[ ] ghostscript - preview postscript documents under X windows
$ 25	[ ] ghostview - preview and manipulate postscript documents
$ 50	[ ] mh - RAND Mail Handler - useful for managing LARGE amounts of mail
*	[ ] TeX - book formatting system
**	[ ] x11 - mit's windowing system - most public domain unix window
	    applications use this 

* - to install TeX on a machine running SunOS or Ultrix, $100
    to install TeX on a machine running another OS, $200
** - to install the latest X11 release on a machine running
     SunOS or Ultrix, $50.  On any other OS, $150
